So what are my options do you think? Do AMX programmers do any work outside of the usual "we supply all the parts AND do the programming?" I have no interest in learning AMX code etc. In fact I just about have enough AMX components to do the whole system (I think) BUT the whole programming issue could put it all in jeopardy. I have a few AMX pieces that I got cheap - including a brand new NI-900 box. I'm sure there will be work training involved (maybe an AMX course? not sure), but I want to be as far along as I can when/if that happens to make the transition smoother/faster. I've done basic programming in C, Javascript and Perl so I'm not a totally inexperienced programmer and will pick this up relatively quickly (I think). Pre-emptive answers for questions I anticipate:

Manuals on the net, books, advice if you are/were an AMX programmer, anything. So basically I'm looking for any resources that anyone can point me to, or really any advice anyone has for learning this. I also have a Netlinx Studio manual which will help, but it doesn't seem to get too much into the coding side of things.

If an update is needed, Technical Support will most likely have it first but it will also most likely be available as a Netlinx Studio Support Files update from the download section of the. I've worked through this and it was helpful, but I'd still be completely lost when it comes to actually writing a program or include file for even just an AMX touch panel. At this time, updates have occurred to the NetLinx.axi file during Netlinx Studio version changes and when additional keywords have needed to be added. I found a Netlinx manual from like 1994 that was much better, and it went through most of the DEFINE sections, basic button events, levels and so on. I was able to get an AMX account with my employer so I've done their online programming and control courses, but they're obviously very basic.
